The time for one lunar phase cycle is 29.530589 days, or 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, 3 seconds. Or thereabouts...

Lunations are awarded numbers and between the 12th November’s new moon and the 12th December’s new moon, its #1199. 🌑 🌒 🌓🌔🌕

And how exciting is it that at that time I will be on SV Traveledge crossing the Caribbean Sea in search of solutions to the plastics plague?

The nights on the 4th leg of the round-the-world voyage will be quite dark at the start as we will board at pretty much new moon 🌑.

As we travel on, we move slowly through the different moon stages through to half moon 🌓 at pretty much the time we will reach Bonaire.

And with night watches there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beauty and changes and admire the predictability of this aspect of nature. This same predictability cannot be expected of the winds, weather and general sea conditions!

As I find myself on this morning’s 7am train looking into Lunar Calendars for the very first time in my life, the total excitement about my eXXpedition trip and my desire to learn, influence, progress was at its most obvious yet. It can’t come too soon now!
